Missions

Locally – Our Work in NJ and NY
St. Therese provides donations to a local immigrants’ rights organization by volunteering time to provide spiritual counseling to persons housed at local detention facilities. Also, pens, note pads, stamps, and calling cards are donated to the organization to be disseminated to detainees and those who have been granted asylum so that they can contact their family members.
Members of St.Therese visit local homeless facilities in New York and New Jersey that house families, to provide food and engage in family-friendly activities with the residents. Children are engaged in small group activities aimed at building self-esteem through storytelling and skits. At the end of each activity, several give-aways are left with families such as books and art supplies to encourage reading and creative expression through art.
Members of St. Therese conduct an annual Mother’s Day brunch with residents at a local medical, residential facility. These are residents who are diagnosed with various types of mental illnesses and developmental delays. The residents are privileged to participate in a five-course meal with beverages. Afterwards, participants also enjoy festivities such as: music, dancing, and board games.
